WINDOWS

Solar energy
from the south-facing windows provides the house
with natural heat in the winter. Adequate roof overhang provides
protection from the sun's heat in the summer. The windows also
reflect heat back into the house in the winter and reflect heat out in
the summer.
Insulation is being tested in 2006-2007
between the inside windows and the Plexiglas storm windows to save
energy. Two-inch foam is used between the lower part of the
windows and heat reflecting foil insulation in the upper part. 56%
of the windows are located on the south side of the house and 27% on the
east side. A skylight has four panes of glass to conserve energy.
